About the Book

A perfectly groomed little white poodle is turned into an animal hospital by a man who says he found the dog wandering around in the outside parking lot. The dog appears to be lost and is accepted by the hospital staff. The staff advertises in local newspapers and places posters in the windows of their office, but no one claims the dog. Finally, after a few weeks the dog is given away to a family who frequently boards their dog there. The customers were my father and mother, and the dog’s name is Mickey. We always wondered where he came from, why he was perfectly groomed when found, and why no one responded to the ads. We made up a story about Mickey’s past, and since we are located in Las Vegas, we made up a story that placed Mickey in show business. Had he been a successful performer? What could have gone so wrong that he was left abandoned in a Las Vegas parking lot?

About the Author

The author, a former teacher and federal employee, lives in the Washington DC area but also spends time at the family home in Las Vegas, where Mickey and Jerry happily reside with her mother. Illustrator: Isabela Ciesinak is a book illustrator and screen writer who resides in Toronto, Canada.
