About the Book
Anyone who reads this book of poems will be better for it. The writing is skillful, sophisticated, artful, and also clear. The poet allows the reader to see deeply into shared human experience. Many of these poems deal with what Faulkner in his Nobel Prize speech called the timeless affairs of the human heart. There is much to be learned from the poet's insights into love, motherhood, man's capacity for good and evil, and death. No matter how serious their subjects, the poems are filled with fresh, suggestive imagery, language and dialogue. This is a book that both instructs and delights.
