About the Book
Diane is an innately happy person, but beginning in 1991, a series of events would turn her life upside down. Most devastating was the loss of her son for ten years, experiencing firsthand the cruelty of humans. This opened her eyes to a wide variety of injustices. After getting her son back in her life in 2004, she entered the military and this began another series of events that would open her eyes and allow her to see the world without the rose-colored glasses. The book Awakenings is a compilation of short stories and poems that reflect her internal journey, and her eventual triumph over adversity. Diane is now living with her family in Mississippi and working on her degree in Anthropology.
