About the Author

Adelina C. da Silva was born in Fogo, Cape Verde Islands and immigrated to the United States in 1976. She is an ESL and ELA teacher at Madison Park Technical Vocational High School in Boston, Massachusetts. She received her MFA degree in 2005 from Lesley University, Cambridge Massachusetts. Adelina writes in Portuguese, English and Cape Verdean Creole. Some of her poems in Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole were published in Arquipelago, a magazine published in Boston in the 1990s. At present Adelina lives in Malden, Massachusetts.
