About the Book

The story tells of a woman’s life, beginning in North Korea and ending decades later in Paris. Set on a global scale, the unique and colorful events have a universal quality and a deep historical sensibility.

The scene opens at a mansion called Hill Top where lives a noble family. The young heroine, Mira, is stripped of her aristocratic standing by the political changes of the times––in particular, the liberation from Japan and the consequent Russian occupation.

The family makes a clandestine boat voyage to the South where Mira navigates her way through struggle, loss, triumph, and love. She finds in peacetime a powerful love that gives her life renewed meaning.

About the Author

Author Biography The author was a student of Women’s Medical College in Seoul. Her study was interrupted by the force of civil war; her marriage to a European businessman gave her the opportunity to live in some of the major cities of the world and travel extensively.
