About the Book

This book is Gene’s seventh since he started writing for fun and enjoyment about ten years ago. Since then he has written over four hundred stories covering many of his trips around the world. But this book includes many different kind of tales. In it Gene reflects on his early years with a family of which he obviously is very proud. The Purse in the Muff include tales of his grandmother and grandfather and their twelve children. What an interesting and exciting family this is! From the late nineteenth century until the present time we read of tales and experiences of those twelve children. I was especially interested in those members of that family who are so talented and how they lived as average New Yorkers in this city of ours. Another interesting part of the story is how important education was to the success of this family. When Gene wrote about the three most important things that his grandmother focused on, his line was education, education, and education. It certainly made the difference with this family The stories and the pictures from his grandmother album are so touching. You will enjoy every tale in this book.
