It's Just Not Love

“Shelby, can I talk to you for a moment, please?” she said pantomiming Paul’s voice. Sandra stepped into beat, “’Why Paul, I am too busy talking to my friends right now.’” She said in a southern accent while putting her hand to her chest like a good old southern belle. Shelby doesn’t miss a beat, “’Paul, didn’t you hear me tell you to jump, now jump, higher, higher!’” Shelby said in her best Katherine impression yet. The door swung open again. Katherine glided in. The room went silent. The ‘S’ sisters held their positions with their mouths open, stunned and caught. Shelby sat up straight and was the first to speak, “Katherine, hello.” Katherine looked at the girls, not wanting to acknowledge that she heard what they were saying. “Hello, Shelby, ladies.” Katherine sat down on the bench opposite where they were sitting, and opened a magazine, not wanting any further contact. She really didn’t care what they thought. She did wonder why she had not received an invitation to Chelsea’s wedding. Anyone who was anybody had an invitation, why not her? She dared not ask. Sandra made an attempt at small talk, which Katherine answered in one-syllable responses. The girls bid her a good day and left the sauna room. As they headed toward the locker room, they saw Deborah past by them in the hall, they pretended not to even notice her. Seconds after the sauna door closed, Katherine heard their uproarious laughter, but she soon forgot all about their existence
