About the Author

Donna C. Lake was a teacher in New Jersey for 36 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Rowan University, in Glassboro, New Jersey. She also holds a Master's Degree in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College, in Michigan. As an adolescent, Donna knew that she wanted to be a teacher. It was her dream. Donna began her career teaching kindergarten in 1967 at the Field Street School, in Carneys Point, New Jersey. During her career she taught first grade, fourth and fifth grade, and retired after teaching kindergarten again for 12years, at the Lafayette Pershing School in Carneys Point. After retirement she returned to the classroom as a substitute for two more years. Donna has three children of her own who have given her four beautiful grandchildren. Her experiences with children inspired her to write this book for those new big brothers and sisters who sometimes experience a little jealousy when a new baby arrives. In her free time, she enjoys reading books herself, going to the theater, working as an independent consultant, attending sporting events, and spending time with her granddaughter and family members. She is thrilled with this opportunity to publish her book, The Big Sister, and is thankful to all of those who have encouraged her to do so.
