About the Book
The content and context of this collection of poems are my personal reactions and responses to social and political events in my life. The subjects range from personal and familial relationships to reaction to electoral politics. My feelings and anger are best found in Shakespeare's Hamlet. "What a piece of work is man...."
About the Author
Waverly Sinclair Howard is an Octogenarian currently residing in Cambria Heights, New York. He was born as the second child of a teen age mother and deserted by his biological father. Doris, his sister perished in a diphtheria plague that swept New York in the 1930's. He was born November 24, 2929 in what was then Central Harlem. It was the beginning of the Great Depression. In those hard times his beloved Grand mother raised and parented both him and his mother. It is the values and world views of this self taught Native American woman that he lives by even today. Beginning at nine years of age selling newspapers and shining shoes to delivering ice to tenements and working on the docks during summer school vacations at sixteen. In his adult life he has been decorated New York City Firefighter, Forensic Social Worker in the Criminal Defense Section Of the Legal Aid Society and a High School Special Ed teacher. He is now retired.
