About the Book

Being the only child of a coal miner supplied Peggy with many colorful memories about which to write, as well as summers spent with her grandparents in a small coal mining town. After her father left the mines – living in a house situated on the banks of the Kanawha River provided additional memories that were too wonderful not to share.

This Book is a collection of Peggy’s favorite Personal Essays and Essays on Faith. They originated from a lifetime of memories and experiences.

About the Author

After God and family, Peggy Toney Horton’s greatest passions have always been music and writing. She started taking piano lessons very young and when she was fifteen, she took on a few beginning students of her own after school and on Saturdays. She also started writing at a very young age, jotting down stories and poems wherever she happened to be. Even after she was married and had a large family, there was never a time when she wasn’t writing – or thinking about it. She also went back to teaching piano, enjoying a class of twenty students each week for several years. When her children were older, Peggy attended college, concentrating on English, Creative Writing, and Psychology classes. But it was not until her family was grown that she began to pursue her love of writing seriously. Her essays and short stories have been published frequently for several years in her local newspaper, The Charleston Gazette. She also enjoys writing an online blog.
