About the Book
This is a guide for persons with disabilities who are seeking paid employment or volunteer opportunities. It takes you through the process of getting hired, re-hired, or career changing. It contains valuable insights on what to avoid, to save yourself time wasting activities that do not produce results. It is a “no holds barred” description of the good, the bad, and the ugly, elements of the job search process.
About the Author
Judith Thomas is a Career Development Practitioner with her own business entitled Canada Career Coach. Her employment coaching work includes assisting newcomers, marginalized youth, forty-plus clients, persons with disabilities, students and the long-term unemployed. She is also a writer with four articles published in the Contactpoint Bulletin for Career Counsellors. Judith is an excellent public speaker who has presented at private businesses on disability issues, schools on the importance of career choices, and at many conferences on employment based issues. Judith brings a rare perspective to her guide for job seekers, both as a respected job coach and a person with a disability herself. She has approached her subject with a down to earth, easy to read, writing style, peppered with humour. She has a second book, currently in the development stage, for employment professionals, working with persons with disabilities. If you have comments regarding this guide, or would just like to touch base with Judith, she would love to hear from you. She can be contacted at jobcoachjudith@gmail.com
