About the Book

The children of Blackburn Parish have been missing. Along with each of them, an important possession of theirs is missing. Is this small community stuck with a predator? Could a nosy teenager solve this mystery? Jackie, a junior journalist, is prepared to put her wits against those of the local authorities. Her desire is to be taken seriously as a writer and to win a position with her local paper as a junior writer. With her assistance, the citizens of Blackburn Parish will discover what makes this “Kinder Garden” so special.

About the Author

Starlette D. Guillory is an educator for the Lafayette Parish School Board. She was raised and still resides in Maurice, Louisiana with her husband of twelve years, David M. Guillory and their eight year old son, Kristos DiShon and three year old son, Kanaan David. She has a Bachelor’s of Arts from Louisiana State University, a Master’s of Education in Administration and Supervision with a concentration in Supervision from McNeese State University, and plus 30 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is currently taking doctoral classes in Education Leadership at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Her interests are in the effects of female leadership on student performance and the likelihood of African-American males to graduate high school and college and become educators. In her free time she loves to write, to read the Bible, to visit her family and friends, to take pictures, to research her heritage on ancestry.com, to listen to Elvis and to watch LSU football and the Saints. Some of her favorite authors are Anne Rice, James Patterson, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Edgar Allen Poe, and Stephenie Meyers. Her favorite poets are Maya Angelou, Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes, and James Baldwin. The publication of this book has been a “dream deferred” that is now coming to fruition. Her main purpose for publishing this book is to show her sons that if no one believes in you, then believe in yourself and you will be in great company.
