Harry The Plum Island Fisherman

About the Book

Harry is a fisherman, who has fished most of his life on a place in Massachusetts called Plum Island, for mainly two types of fish. These two types are called "Stripers", and/ or "Blue Fish."

The joy, the happiness, the pleasure of this sport is the subject of this book and why it is written. Hopefully the excitement of fishing will touch something inside of you, and you just might find an interest to at least trying fishing for yourself, or at the very least will be able to enjoy the experience reading about Harry.

First priority for on shore fishing of course is to love the beach, the smell of the ocean and the warmth of the sun. Maybe in the past you have sat on the edge of the beach trying to dig to China, or making sand castles with your pail and shovel, flown a kite as you ran down the edge of the beach, or picked up shells as you walked along the edge of the water.

Now, you thought about the fish in that ocean, and seen people, men, women, teenagers, and even children, with their fishing rods in the water, waiting and hoping to catch a fish! The idea enters your head that maybe you would like to try that also and you start thinking about what that would be like.

That is what this book is going to tell you. It will try to show you the anticipation, the feeling of joy, the signs to look for to consider if there might be fish there or not, even some types of fishing.

I hope you will enjoy the experience that I have tried to pass onto you. It is an experience Harry started at a young age and continued throughout his life.

He still does!!

June Marie begins her series of "Plum Island" natural adventure stories with this surfcasting "fish tail." She has worked in Quality Control in the Aerospace Industry, for the last 15 years. She has four grown children, and six grandchildren. She and Harry live on beautiful Plum Island in Newbury Massachusetts, whom is the inspiration for these stories.
