About the Book
SYNOPSIS “SONG OF A BEACH” is a compilation of poems, addressing an interesting potpourri of subject-matters! It aims to shower “lingering light on Art, brighter than a satellite”, especially in an era of kneejerk cutbacks on Art spending! The poems run the gamut of moods, sensibilities, attitudes, philosophical insights, and multiple-personality themes! The voice of each poem speaks from the heart, daring, challenging its reader to view life, the world, from a perspective far removed from the ordinary. “SONG OF A BEACH” seeks to encourage casual Poetry patrons, to become “Addicted” Poetry consumers! For the insufferable addicts of Poetry, it only aims to strengthen your pleasant addiction, while validating your unshakable faith in the poetic genre! Enjoy the lyrical buffet, this dainty collection, generously offers!
About the Author
I don’t know when, exactly, my writing career was born, but I have been told that I was born on March 12th, 1962. There’s a birth certificate, somewhere, corroborating this! My passionate love for creative writing, without a doubt, is a direct result of my intense interest in Literature. As a professional “F” Math student, I always found a sanctuary of relief in a novel or poem! When I wrote a letter to the Editor of a local newspaper, sometime in 1980, little did I realize I had applied for a job! The Editor of the paper apprised me of his love for my writing style, and his interest in hiring me. I soon became the paper’s parliamentary correspondent, in addition to writing columns, proofreading, and editing! As a Preliminary student at the University of Sierra Leone, I became a featured contributor to the famed “Chuke’s Press”, getting mostly rave reviews for poems, especially! After I was expelled from USL, I worked as a Reporter/Columnist for a few newspapers. I was also hired as a part-time English/Literature teacher, a position I proudly held until I left for the United States. I enrolled at Western Illinois University, where I obtained a degree in Philosophy. My family lives in Illinois. I enjoy playing Chess and Scrabble, when family or intellectual interests don’t occupy my mind!
