About the Book
“Crying is not an option” became a reality for me at about the time I realized the impact on our lives, as Ron’s journey with Parkinson’s disease progressed. The first ten years, I would refuse to let the realization of its impact on our lives. I could only do this for so long. The last five years of Ron’s life was one of the most difficult periods we ever had together, except for painting the outside of the house on Horton Road! I am so blessed to have made this journey with the man I loved so dearly.
The book is about a journey we took that was both enlightening and humorous and a gift beyond imagination. It is written for caregivers, in an effort to help make your experience a humorous and loving trip.
About the Author
I was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, and moved to Grand Haven, a beautiful town on Lake Michigan, when I was five. Upon graduation from high school, I enrolled in speech and language therapy at Western Michigan College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It became a university while I was there. I was thankful for my fun and exciting career, working with children for the thirty-six years I taught. It was through my job that God was preparing me for the hardest thing I have ever done in my lifetime. Ron and I had the most wonderful journey in our thirty years of marriage together. During that time, God was preparing us both for the hardest two years we’ve ever encountered. I hope this book will inspire you to take a humorous, loving, and memorable journey with your loved one, as crying is not an option when you are in these caregiving years. It is best to face hard times with humor. That can be a blessing in the end.
