About the Author

A native New Yorker and a graduate of the Academy of Hair Design, I have seventeen years of experience as a professional cosmetologist, a hair consultant and as owner of a hair salon. My grandmother was from the Tortola, British West Indies. My parents were born on the island of St. Thomas. How beautiful our hair was when we were growing up. After working as a hairstylist, I realized how much I knew about hair. It had come from watching these family members embrace healthy hair care. They taught me how to strive for it. Their attitude toward their hair was one to be respected. The hair industry is forever changing, but there are some things that never change and healthy hair care is one.
