About the Book

The Tide of Poverty is a soberingly plausible account of how easy it would be to bring a nuclear device into our nation and to destroy not only the northern half of the State of Washington but to deliver four additional nuclear ‘dirty bombs’ to our nations’ capital. As wildfi res ravage our nation, as states secede from the union, as right wing hate groups gain leverage not only in local areas but in national politics as well the reader will begin to realize how perilously close to anarchy our nation has drifted.
It is also a delightful account of how in many crisis ordinary people rise to what is demanded of heroes and thwart diabolical plots of massive intrigue and power. It is seldom the ‘super hero’ that ‘saves the day’. It is the ordinary person who lives up to the standard set by Robert Service when he in the 1800’s wrote “Carry On”.
America needs to wake up to what is happening. For too long we have allowed political ideology to supplant common sense, science, even religion. You may deny that far right wing groups pose a danger to our nation and to your very last breath you may cast blame on others, yet when radiation burns your fl esh, when wildfi res consume your homes or fl oods sweep you out to sea you will still be dead. And so will your nation.

About the Author

Jack Walts is a retired Civil Engineer with 39 years experience and is a student of climate science and a member of Fire Station No. 12. He is a combat war veteran who served as a pilot in close air support; 32nd degree Master Mason; past master of his Masonic Lodge in Nebraska; past Shrine Club Member; active in church. Jack is married and lives with his wife of 30 years. They have four children and seven grand children. He, his wife, two Golden Retrievers a tiny Shiba Inu and three cats live on acreage in the central part of Wyoming.
