About the Book
It was December 1938. A family sat around the dinner table as they did each night. But this night was different. In a few fateful moments, their lives would change forever.
This true story, told by Janči Teschner, follows his family’s journey in Slovakia, through bunkers, homes of strangers, and concentration camps during the holocaust. Through a combination of his wits and the good deeds of strangers, Janči escapes death seven times, but not everyone in his family is as lucky.
Now Janči's words are part of the pages of history for the world to know—and to never forget.
