About the Book

This story, Joey Loves His Sister, is about two orphan children who, after running away from the orphanage, find a couple who learn to love them. They see the good in Joey and realize that he is an honest boy who takes responsibility seriously. The pictures are quick sketches author has done to show how alive she can make the story for a small child as it is read to him.

About the Author

Maud was born in 1908. As a child there was no radio or television for entertainment. People created their own. Maud wrote and memorized poetry that was sometimes pages long. Before reciting a poem she practiced facial and vocal expressions while looking in a mirror. It was very entertaining to us kids.
