About the Book

About the Book Today, with so many forms and styles of modem poetry, it is refreshing sometimes to read the simple rhymes that one can understand without some kind of degree in reading poetry. The poems between the covers of this book come from the very heart of the writer and describes so many feelings she has felt through the many years of her life. Some are sad and some are hopeful and there are others that tell her story in rhyme that is simple and are written for ordinary people who often feel as she feels. Maybe in some of the poems they can find a part of themselves or relive some memories they have long forgotten but would like to revisit. May these words bring some joy to others and that is one reason the author has published this book.

About the Author

About the Author Virginia Midgett Richardson has wanted to write from the time she first held a pencil. Both her parents being avid readers, she had learned to read children books before she was old enough to attend school. Many of those little books contained rhymes and she began trying to write poems at an early age. Later she became interested in writing song lyrics and through the years had several songs recorded by pretty important country artists. She also won first prize in a national song contest and her winning lyric had music composed for it by the then famous songwriter, Johnny Green. After a late marriage, Virginia began writing verses for many greeting card companies and sold hundreds through the 1980s and '90s. However, because her husband loved her poetry so much, she would always write poems for him. He wanted her to have a book of poetry published but she kept putting it off until later. After losing him a few years ago, she began writing many more in his memory. Some of these, along with some older ones and some written for family and friends and just because she still loves to write, she has finally had this book published ... A dream come true for her and the one she loves and misses so much. Virginia Midgett Richardson lived happily for many years with her husband, Ray, in the beautiful mountains of Virginia. After he passed away in 2010, her family brought her back to her hometown of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina where she lives with her niece. She is aged and disabled but still wants to write and spends much of her time doing so when she feels up to it. She still sells a greeting card verse now and then.
