About the Book

This story describes the suffering and pain that Rusty experiences as a male seeking love, affection and devotion from that one female put upon this earth to please him.

Each time he meets a potential mate, she eventually rejects him, by dwelling on her own interests. Rusty is unable to cope with the loss and loneliness of isolation and feels compelled to eliminate his companion by planning her death. He feels no remorse or regret and moves on to the next exploit, enjoys sex and the closeness of being with a caring pseudo grandmother.   Then, before long, the woman begins to drift away to her girlfriends or finds Rusty lacking.  This repeated rejection causes Rusty to become violent and turn toward removing her from the face of the earth.

Rusty becomes aware that his behavior is irrational and visits a psychiatrist. The doctor tries to explain that Rusty should sever a poor relationship without murder.  Rusty can only resolve his pain of rejection by destroying the disloyal female.

On his fifth killing, he plans a car accident to eliminate a disgruntled woman and her two children by slamming into a tree.  He plans that his seatbelt and airbag will save him, but unbeknown to him the car doesn't have an airbag.  All passengers are killed.

At a meeting at the police station, Captain Farrel presents witnesses who prove that Rusty was truly a serial killer.

The psychiatrist who handled Rusty’s case investigates Rusty’s ancestry because he believes that Rusty was unable to control his rage. By questioning Rusty's mother the doctor learns that Rusty’s maternal grandfather was adopted by an uncle who whipped the child, enslaved him and choked off his ego and ability to express rage.  Only through the grandchild, Rusty, was this pocket of hatred released in the form of a serial killer.

The doctor concludes that Rusty's grandfather was squelched by the uncle and his two offsprings into complete isolation. The grandfather never learned to express himself verbally, remained in a state of incompetence and played an inferior role to his cousins. This state of numbness brought on further abuse and insults which caused a permanent disability.  Marriage caused further harm because his wife dominated him because of his lowly image of himself. He took on a poor demeanor, worked as a tailor in complete slavery and had very little to do with his children.

His inadequate personality was absorbed by members of his family who in turn passed on these poorly functional characteristics to their children. Rusty absorbed the grandfather from his mother, the daughter of the ill grandfather.  This grandfather nestled deep in the subconscious of Rusty, walled off by defenses that did not permit the enraged grandfather to surface. However, in time this rage increased, found an outlet by choosing the weaker females as objects of criticism –then resulting in uncontrollable rage causing the death of these victims stemming from the original rage of the grandfather in early childhood. Rusty had no choice in the decision making. The internal forces broke through the barrier and thrashed out at the weaker sex, resulting in their death.

The doctor was intrigued by the affect that the grandfather had on his grandchild, but the doctor had discovered a source of evil that had never been touched on before.  He closed his recording case and realized that his work had just begun. His professional associates would have great difficulty accepting this presentation and theory.

About the Author

I graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1944 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked over the years for the Philadelphia Naval Base, Frankford Arsenal, contractor George Ewing, and finally Gulf Oil. After retiring, I spent most of my time playing tennis and writing books that explored the ideas that most intrigued me - evil, greed, and death. I have completed eleven so far. My next creation – “Love Me or Die” is the tale of an oversexed serial killer whose life is out of control. My other works include a fictional autobiography based on my own checkered life, a non-fiction chronicle of paranormal events experienced by a father and his nine-year-old daughter, and a number of novels inspired by the lives of family and close friends -including an elderly woman's losing battle with uterine cancer, and a wealthy entrepreneur who is doomed by a pathological need to spend beyond his considerable means.
