Ordered abandoned by his ruthless Imperial Roman parents, infant Marcus is saved by a slave. He is secretly adopted and smuggled to Corinth by wealthy Greeks. He is raised not knowing his brother is the tyrant, Emperor Nero, who gains the throne by a murderous act of his mother. In Corinth, Marcus becomes involved with Mirium, a Christian Jew, whose parents employ (St.) Paul He again sees Mirium in Ephesus where he saves (St.) Paul from a mob of angry idol worshipers. He becomes an Olympic champion. His life is complicated by an arranged marriage to a Greek Girl. He sails for Rome and finds Mirium, her parents, and Paul, are aboard the ship that wrecks in a storm at Malta. Marcus and Mirium spend the winter on the island and become lovers. Nero orders Rome burned to make room for his "Golden Palace." He blames the Christians, and orders their extermination. Mirium becomes a victim. Enraged, Marcus joins a Christian band intent on assassinating his brother.


About the Author

Henry Minick, a retired investigator with OSI, USAF, attended the Defense Language School where he learned the Italian language. He became fascinated with Imperial Rome when he lived and worked at NATO Headquarters in Naples, Italy. He studied Imperial Roman history and visited most of the places that are the settings for his novel, THE CORINTHIAN. After his retirement from the USAF, he worked as a Coroner’s investigator in Orange County, California, returning several times to Italy and the Mediterranean area. Before his retirement from the Coroner’s office, he started writing about the era and the sites that he loved. Henry’s fictional work is set amid factual history that he describes as more interesting than fiction.
