About the Book

As an escape from the dull and rainy lakeside town in which they live, two young girls dream of living in sunny California after high school graduation. About the Author

Josh Hancock is a high school English teacher in Northern California. His short stories have appeared in Short Stories Monthly and other publications. He is currently at work on his second novel.

Inspired by two of Bruce Springsteen’s “story” songs, “Thunder Road” and “The River,” Josh began working on Between the Rain three years ago. Using songs by Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, and David Bowie as a “soundtrack” for the story, the novel endured many changes and rewrites before it was ready for publication. And the reviews have been outstanding. Richard Ferri, author of the cult bestseller Bloodrock, and the more recent, critically-acclaimed Blossom River Drive, describes Josh’s novel as “a multi-level thrill ride…no one would ever guess this is his first novel.” Michael Sutton, author of the bestselling war novel, No Survivors, captures the essence of Between the Rain in his review: “It’s enlightening, yet carries a flint-hard edge. Currently, Josh teaches American Literature and Senior English at Westmont High School in Campbell, California. As department chair, he finds working with both colleagues and students a prime source of encouragement for his fiction.
