About the Book

TAEJIN is a historical novel about Korea. The book opens with the fall of the Yi Dynasty in August of 1910, tracing some 50 years of their history, both North and South, as the Korean people struggle with their familiar, middle-ages society and experience its wrenching transition into the 20th Century. It is a change few are able to assimilate easily. Thus, their passage through Japanese annexation, World War II, the Korean Conflict, and finally the years following the wars is tumultuous at best. Throughout, TAEJIN remains faithful to historical fact.

TAEJIN is a stark novel, but it fairly addresses the stark culture about which it speaks. It was not written with a western bias, but works instead to let the characters tell their own story; their own history. The result is a rewarding read about a country closely associated with the United States, and yet one about which no meaningful historical fiction has yet appeared.
