About the Book
Sharing our history with the world is mostly information compiled by the author of the book. We have no written book of how our wonderful establishment begin. This magnificent Organization began in 1926 by late Bishop Major Solomon Bennett. In it’s 88 years history, we had four fantastic Bishops to head these Churches, Bishop Major Solomon Bennett, Bishop Benjamin Fields Colty, Bishop James Kelly and presently Bishop Moses Alfred Lewis. A written history of some of these Churches, that makes up this wonderful Organization, as well as the former churches of Church, South Carolina. History of each church was compiled by the Pastors Members and Secretaries of each churches, It’s foundation to the presence. It’s establishment and structure, our forefathers came together and set the guidelines that this organization will follow, not much has been revised since. Pictures of some notable Leaders and Members, past and present, whose faces will be recognizable to the body of Christ. There are many, many more great giants that can be placed in “OUR CHURCH HALL OF FAME” that space will not consent to. When the Spirit of God change the lives of ordinary people through the fabric of the church, People through the power of the Holy Spirit, can and will accomplish great things that will last and help to change the lives of others through Christ for generations to come. We thank our God through Christ Jesus for all that has built on this foundation, because of their FAITH in Christ which will be reported to the whole world. (Romans 1:8)
About the Author
Tomie Brown was born Thursday, August 24, 1944 to Mr. Willie and Mrs. Julia Brown. He is the fifth 'of six children three brothers and two sisters. From a child until after high" school he grew up in Burton, South Caroline, he attend General Robert Smalls High School In grades ten-twelve be learned how to lay bricks draw and read blue prints. Graduated June 3, 1963 Thank God for being born unto a saved parent, my mother became a Christian before he was born, and at the early age of twelve he accepted the Lord as my personal Savior and tarried around thealter for the gift of the Holy Ghost (Spirit). After high school Tomie enlisted in the United States Army and did basic training an advance training in Fort Gordon Georgia. From there to Kitzingen Germany. Toured many places in Europe. Returned to the U.S. in May 1966 and made his home in Brooklyn, New York. On September 3, 1966, he was married to the lovely Miss. Ernestine Johnson.Into this union seven children. Earned an A.A.S. Degree from the New York City Community College, a Teaching Certificate, and Bachelor of Bible Subjects from the International Bible Institute & Theological Seminary, A Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Religious Education from the O.M. Kelly Religious Training Institute In Freeport N.Y. Held many positions in the Church of Christ Holiness Unto The Lord Inc. Superintendent and Teacher of the Sunday School Department, Asbury Park N. J. and Spring Field Gardens, N. Y. Assistant Pastor, Vic President of the Northern District Sunday School Convention, N.Y. Secretary and Treasurer, Moderator of the Union Meeting Northern District. Secretary of the District Assembly, for thirty three years, Teacher in the Major Solomon Bennett Bible Institute, later became President of that Institute. His greatest ambition in life is "TO KNOW CHRIST IN THE POWER OF HIS MIGHT”. “Motto; "BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF AND GOD, THEN He CAN DO SOMETHING with and FOR YOU. IT'S CALLED (HONEST CONFESSION)... appointed pastor of The Upper Room Church of Christ Holiness Unto The Lord Inc. From July 1990 to the present. October of 1999 went on the Mission Field to Africa. Still travel to Africa every two years. Accomplished many work in Africa through divine Christian outreach international which he is vice president of the group. Lectured in schools, churches and Bible colleges through West Africa. Dug many wells in many Villages throughoutWest Africa, and built a children’s library in 2010 in the village of Nkracrum west Africa. To God be the glory for the things He has done.
