About the Book

This book is the true story of the life of eighty-seven-year-old Arthur Maurice Neal. Maurice was in the navy, and when he was discharged from the navy, he married Corinne Crosby, and she has been by his side during all the challenges of life. We celebrate our sixty-sixth wedding anniversary this year.

About the Author

My husband, Maurice Neal, was born in Ripley, Maine, and his early years of school were in a one-room schoolhouse, and later he graduated from N. H. Fay High School in Dexter. He graduated at the age of seventeen and enlisted in the navy with the approval of his father. Maurice attended the New England Institute of Anatomy and Sanitary Science and is a licensed funeral director. My husband and I now live in Dexter after traveling around the country. He is a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter and has a license to preach and has had the opportunity to preach in many churches in Maine. He joined the Dexter Sunrise Kiwanis and has served as their president and served a year as lieutenant governor of Division 2 in the New England District. My name is Corinne Neal, and I was born in Dexter, Maine, and attended the Dexter Schools and graduated from N. H. Fay High School in Dexter where I met my sweetheart, Maurice. I later attended Fisher College in Boston. I have worked at many positions through the years. My first job was at the psychiatric hospital in Bangor, then clerk of the Superior Court, and later for a lawyer and bookkeeping. Starting my own restaurant, the Dexter Café, was a challenge, but it was my favorite job. We raised four children and have fourteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, Brooklin. I belong to the Dexter Sunrise Kiwanis and have served as their president, and at present, I am the immediate. Past President. I also belong to the Sunshine Club and Literary Club where we continually help those who are in need. I belong to the Dexter First Baptist Church, and at present, we are preparing a musical for Christmas and have around forty-two in the choir. Everyone is invited.
