About the Book

Loaves and Fishes is an eclectic collection of poems ranging from visions of nature, personal moments, and even reactions to recent violent tragedies. It does all these from a universal perspective attempting to name the quiddity of experiences through poetic attention.

About the Author

James Skene earned his degree in English Literature from the University of Colorado. He is the third of nine children and a father of two. His poetry is influenced by the philosophical and religious arguments in a home with a Catholic mother and agnostic father. Poetic influences include Frost, Wordsworth, Romantics and Transcendentalists, and Hopkins, whose philosophy of Instress naming the Inscape of the Creation is a primary touchstone. He lives in the natural beauty surrounding Denver, Colorado, and this setting also finds its way into his work.
