About the Book
The Nylon Diaries. They met in high school, San Francisco, 1981. In her words, they “didn’t exactly go out and didn’t exactly not.” At the beginning of their junior year, he immigrated to London, where he stayed for the next thirty years. She lived in Los Angeles and New York. They were in touch sporadically but were definitely part of each other’s pasts. In the summer of 2013, he flew to New York for a short visit. This is a transcript of their text messages for the next year and a half.
About the Author
David was born in Cape Town, grew up in San Francisco, and immigrated to the UK in 1983. He went to Cambridge University in 1987, studying physics. After a succession of jobs too tiresome to remember, let alone mention, he started teaching in 1998. He also writes plays. Erin was born in Texas. Her family moved around a great deal, and she spent some of her childhood in Paris. After high school in San Francisco, she went to UCLA and graduated in theatre arts. She spent several years in Los Angeles acting (her specialty was improv comedy) and modeling and now works in marketing.
