Growing up fast and mean, Amy was never one to take no for an answer. While growing up in a vineyard in Napa County, she falls in love with the working cowboys on the feedlot next door. Striking a deal to save an old horse, Amy is taken under the wing of an old ranch boss named Chip. At Broken Bar, she earns her respect through the hard knocks of rank horses and salty cow hands. College life is all she expected until a roommate disappears mysteriously, despondent and frustrated, she decides the only way she can fine her roommate, is to become a cop herself. She is tested on the mean streets of Richmond. After meeting a cowboy that wrecks her world and a near death experience with a crazed junkie, Amy leaves it all behind for the slow pace and beauty of Plumas County. Amy, a young detective is assigned to the death of a man that appears to be a transient. Battling burn out, a relationship gone bad and the loss of her father and a friend, she is at a crossroads in her life. As her life unexpectedly changes direction, she finds that all of her assumptions have been wrong.
