Blanche and Hugo had developed a loving relationship that appeared would last forever, but it was premature; Blanche was only seventeen, and Hugo was scheduled to go back to the Great War in France after rehabilitation. After more than two weeks, it came time for Blanche to return home for Christmas, and she still had to finish twelfth grade and had a commitment following spring graduation for employment at the Bridgewater Hotel.
At the train station, Hugo took Blanche in his arms, looked into her beautiful eyes, and kissed her lips passionately, hoping the day would never end. They promised to write each other and knew in their hearts they would meet once again.
Blanche's parting words were "You are so kind. I love you," and he returned the sentiment by saying, "I will always love you. I can't wait until we are together again."
The train's lonesome whistle urged that Blanche and Hugo now part as it started to pull out of the station. They waved good-bye, not knowing how long it would be until they would meet again.

About the Book
The Reward is a love story of two people brought together by the December 6, 1917, Halifax explosion, where over two thousand people were killed and more than six thousand people were severely injured. The explosion provides the backdrop for how two people, Blanche and Hugo, met and fell in love. After a short loving relationship, they parted, promising to write each other until they could be together again. Destiny played a cruel trick, and they became separated. Sixty six years later, Hugo offered a reward to find Blanche. Destiny has provided one of the greatest love stories of all time.

Bob is an avid outdoors enthusiast enjoying fishing, boating, photography, and snowmobiling. Retired after thirty-three years in IT Management with AT&T Bell Labs, and after selling his latest software company, he decided to write his first book. The Reward is one of the greatest true love stories of all time. He has told his mother's story many times and felt compelled to share this story to give hope and inspiration to all who wish to enlighten their soul.
