About the Author

I was seriously injured in an accident in 1999. I had to leave my teaching job and start a new life. My future was uncertain. The doctors did not know how my condition would develop. I was suffering a lot of pain, sleepless nights, and severe depression. In 2001, my dad died, and I had to be strong for my family, but no one was there for me. One afternoon, my husband rang to tell me he was bringing a kitten home for me. That was the first time I smiled in years. This little bundle of fur was going to change my life in so many ways. He become my friend, my protector, and soon learned how to alert me when I had a seizure coming. As my health got worse, there was always one constant in my life, Pickles. I don't think I would be as strong as I am today without him. Thank you, little man.
