About the Book

Join the baby elephant in his journey, using your hands and your feet along with your imagination. Animals from big to small and from land and water alike will come together in this heartwarming story a child will love. It is filled with love, courage, imagination, friendship, and a dream. Baby elephant has one dream: to see the ocean and bring back the berries that grow near there for his friends. Along the way, he meets the sunflowers at Sunsilly, the patterned ladybugs, and Sam the clever ogre. With the help of a gentle, sudden, and unexpected breeze, the baby elephant ends up in the forest where the berries grow, and moments after, the long-awaited sight appears before his eyes, the ocean.

About the Author

This is Svetlana’s first book. She began writing for children as a hobby. She says it relaxes her, gives her joy, and keeps her young. She connects with children as an educator, and becoming a writer has given her an opportunity to reach children through writing. She considers it a “cherished” gift. Svetlana is currently a college student at UMass Boston, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She lives near Boston with her cat, Glasha. When she is not writing, she enjoys exploring Boston by going to the MFA, the New England Aquarium, the Boston Common, and an occasional stop at Fenway, among traveling, snorkeling, hiking, and biking. She is also a horse enthusiast and a former horseback rider.
