At the age of fifteen, these young men, through a messy thumb-pricking ceremony, swore allegiance to each other for life. By nineteen, they had gone their separate ways. Twelve years later, they find themselves together again, ostensibly for the wedding of one of their former mates. As they find out, via a postwedding gathering of the Harbour Rats, many very personal incidents are revealed—incidents that the others never knew. About the Author

Evan Brett spent his early years growing up in a town not unlike Port Angus, the main setting for these intriguing, colorful, and often humorous tales of the Harbour Rats. The town was an ethnic mix of many cultures. As a result, friends of Evan came from many varied backgrounds. Together, as teenagers, they led a somewhat unrestricted life, seldom interrupted by the inconvenience of parental guidance. Evan is the author of two earlier novels that were designed for young adults, set around the coast of British Columbia and often with an underlying theme involving his aboriginal studies and the West Coast fishing industry.
