Thomas and the Jumping Sleep Sheep

It didn’t take long for Thomas to find the dream pastures just as his mom had said. Sure enough in a rough wooden fenced corral he saw fluffy white, cloudlike puffs! “Those must be the jumping sheep!” Thomas climbed over the fence with ease and tried to start counting sheep so that he could fall fast asleep. But the sheep wouldn’t stand still and he quickly lost count. “Emhhh,” Thomas cleared his throat, but no sheep noticed. They were talking to one another. So Thomas tried again a little louder, “EMmmmmh”, no change. So Thomas tried even louder, “EMMMMHHHHHHH”, and all the sheep turned to look at him. The biggest sheep said, “No need to shout.” Then turned his head and went right back to talking to the other sheep. Thomas was determined now. He pushed up his sleeves on his worn pajamas and began wadding through the sheep. “Excuse me, excuse me,” he said, as he pushed through their soft bodies, but there were too many of them. “There must be an easier way to count these pesky baaa-baaaaaer’s!” Thomas had an idea. He quickly hopped hopped up on the fence and stood up tall over them and tried to count. But the sheep were playing and kept moving. “I will never get to sleep this way,” Thomas growled with his hands in little angry fists. Maybe if I line them up in a straight line I can count them! But the sheep would not line up. Maybe if I stack them up deep. But the sheep would not stack. Maybe if I let them out the gate one-by-one, I can then count them. But the sheep would not walk out of the gate. Maybe, just maybe I can get them to jump over the fence. As small little Tommy was trying to shove a sheep with all his might up and over the rough wooden fence. The biggest of the sheep exclaimed, “I have an idea! Let’s go to space!”
