Fleetie’s Crossing will reveal events and upheavals in the lives of two families who stumbled upon the heartbreak of the beginning of the out-migration in the Appalachians. The devastating results of this period in history, beginning in the late forties, continue to some degree still today. This author has captured the time, place, and events that might otherwise have been lost in the mists of time.
About the Author
About the Author K. Bruce Florence is a mother, grandmother, retired college administrator, church elder, board member, community volunteer, and published poet. She was reared in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky and was witness to a pivotal time in Eastern Kentucky. She currently writes a newspaper column for her local paper, The Cynthiana Democrat, She is also is working on an epistolary novel in which she hopes to capture one of Kentucky’s poet laureates, George Ella Lyon’s close relationship with her teacher, Kathleen Hill. Her first book, Waiting For Daylight, references an earlier time in the history of coal mining in the Appalachians.
