Dukes was a rare person. Apart from single-handedly walking into the prefects’ glorified interrogation centre and getting Amy and Alice out, he did most of it in silence, with the occasional grunt. So far, Dukes had been all talk, or rather no talk, but if provoked, his actions did indeed meet his reputation. This was shown in what happened as Dukes, Amy, and Alice were leaving, when Jacob Comm attacked Dukes in retaliation and anger for what had just happened. ‘Did you just hit¬¬¬—?’ Amy asked. ‘Who do you think you are? You just walk in here like you own the place. It is disrespectful!’ Jacob shouted. Dukes then turned around. ‘Does your mouth move? Are you even capable of speaking? Answer me!’ Dukes just stared Jacob down. Jacob’s next hit was a massive mistake not only because he now clearly was attacking Dukes but also because he broke his wrist. ‘Ahh!’ Jacob screamed. ‘As a member of the student council, I order that you stand down!’ Helen shouted. I will now quote to you what was written in the incident report that followed this event, written by one of the student council members watching. The beast’s face seemed to change to one that I have never seen and never want to see again. It was not anger, but death covered his face. In one swift kick, Jacob was sent flying backwards, knocking over other student council members as if they were bowling pins and he was a bowling ball. The sound that it made was ungodly, and I fear that if those other students had not been there to break his fall, he would have gone through the wall. An ambulance was called for Jacob, and we later found out that he had a deflated lung. God, help whoever is foolish enough to fight this beast. It was rather dramatic, but it captured what happened beautifully. Dukes was told by a student that Amy and Alice were taken by the student council. This student told Dukes because he had fixed his locker, which had been broken.
