About the Author

Ella Yolanda Johnson is a native of Monroeville, Alabama. After graduating from Monroe County High School, she went on to further her studies in Communications at Mobile College. Leaving Alabama and everything behind, Ella auditioned at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Orlando, FL and was accepted. After graduating, she became a news intern at the NBC Affiliate, WESH TV 2. Realizing that her greater purpose in life was to help those less fortunate, Ella became the founder and CEO of Women at Work International and has been feeding families in Alabama since 2014. Her non-profit organization returned to her hometown each year and in 2018 and 2019, they also fed families in Paynesville, Liberia. Now that she has a special interest in Africa, Ella plans to collaborate with other organizations and leadership in Africa on special projects to help families in need. Ella has a passion for both radio and tv broadcasting, so she takes time during the week to share motivational messages on her show, The Mahogany Bronze Hour. The subjects are edgy, informative and enlightening to her listening audience. In her near future, she plans to turn this into a TV talk show. Ella is a mother of 6 and a grandmother of 6. Family is important to this Alabama native, so she is currently launching a new segment, Mahogany Kids, to inspire, educate, and motivate kids into positivity by using positive kids to do it.
