A novel of adventure and intrigue, Crescent Beach is a page turner. The main characters include Chicago cops and their nemesis, the Russian mob, spouses and girlfriends and residents both shady and otherwise of the Bahamas and Florida. Sailing and lore regarding sailboats are a feature neatly woven into the book. The author writes lyrical passages about some of the beautiful scenery in the areas where his story is set, and what it is one sees in the sky and oceans. These are a very nice touch to the book. The author is gifted in doing this type of poetic material. Since the book ends with a cliff-hanger-a bunch of heavily armed good guys and bad guys in a room with expectations that a shoot-out will ensue---perhaps there will be a second volume --- to wrap things up?

Crescent Beach has something for everyone who enjoys sitting by a fire on a cold evening, or outside on a porch and reading a good murder mystery. There is also the potential for a second book in the series. It is a book about perceptions, about police officers, newspaper men and women and the Russian mob from Chicago. It begins with a murder in Chicago and then takes off on a journey that covers the small town of Crescent Beach, Florida, sailing in Bahamian waters and Savannah, Georgia. Who comes out of this tale alive is anyone’s guess.
