When I put his hat on, the paramedics were ready to roll him to the ambulance. I was to follow in my car. Within one to two minutes, the ambulance sped away with the siren on and they left me. I drove as fast as I could and got to the emergency room, parked, and ran in as soon as I could. When I was able to get into the area that my father had been taken and before I could make it to the nurses' station, I noticed that the hospital staff was speaking to the paramedics and relaying the information to them that we had discussed at the house. He was laying on the gurney still and quiet. I looked at him and he looked at me with a look I had not seen before. This was my mother's cry, Help me, Help me, look without words. I suddenly became sick in my stomach. I realized that I was going to have to help my father the same way I helped my mother.

About the Book
Beginning in 2017, several close family members became ill, and I was the designated caregiver. I was always taught that you help your family and friends whenever possible without question. It never occurred to me to do otherwise even though my life had basically stopped. The Help Chronicles was written as a testament to the time I spent helping my family members and how I learned the varied definitions of this small four-letter word. It was a trying and sad time for me, but the help I provided for them showed me the difference I made in their lives and how grateful they were to me. Though they didn't ask, they accepted all of the help I could give them.
About the Author
R. Jay Berry is the bestselling author, storyteller, educator, and inspirational speaker.
