About the Book

West of the Cimarron With Betsy and Peek-A-Boo

The West was wide open for a family to make a new start.  The large increase in population in the East from immigration, industry expansion caused a big demand for beef..   Large tracks of land with lots of water and grass were available to be taken up for the raising of cattle.

Ranch work was hard on body and soul.   The weather was sometimes good and sometimes very bad.   This was a hard life for any man and most men were physically worn out by the time they were forty.

So it was considered best that they get married and start a family, at an early age.  Girls as young as sixteen and boys eighteen.   Therefore when a man reached forty he would have a son at east eighteen to take over the task of doing most of the hard work on the ranch.

It was the custom for the mature girls to look for a `good man and so it was with the girls in this story.   Troubles aside, the pursuit for men must go on.

A young man was riding to town on a stage coach.  He is delivering a letter from his father to one of the ranchers.   It seemed like a simple task but there was an attempt, by bandits,  to rob the stage coach and the young man found himself in a gun battle to save the passengers.  He later interferes with some gunslingers trying to molest two girls   One of the girls father was the man who the letter was addressed to and things became complicated..

They tried to ambush him several times as he tried to investigate the rustling and murders, but in spite of these life threatening actions, love blossoms.   The reader will enjoy the girls feisty, courageous, pioneer grandmother.  Some evil men found out the hard way, that she had a fighting spirit, that tough people would envy.

Mr. Devious and His Gumshoe

The public and the news media was giving the government fits by pointing out their ineptness in slowing the proliferation of drugs, money laundering and the murders  that accompany them.   In addition the government departments were not showing any progress in the capture of any Drug Cartel Bosses, as had been promised.

Congress realizing that passing of laws was a waste of time,  passed the buck to the administration, by increasing the money that was allotted for solving the problem.   As a result a larger percentage of drugs were intercepted and boats and cars confiscated, but as it was pointed out by the critics, since this was a percentage count, it must mean that a larger percentage got through.

Embarrassed, the administration was desperate for a way out.   A welcome opportunity to get off the hot seat came when they were appraised of a conspirator involved in a murder, who in a plea bargain agreement said he could name the Cartel Bosses who were dealing in drugs and money laundering.

Looking for favorable publicity they pulled all stops out and saying that they had finally, with great detective work, caught the two top Cartel Bosses and were seeking indictments.   Also that these, so called,  Cartel Bosses were not being  granted bail, since they were considered flight risks.

A young woman who was vacationing in Hawaii received a telegram saying, that her father had passed away.   She immediately returned home and was shocked to here that he had been murdered.   She had no relatives and decided to call on her dads best friend, but when she went to his office his secretary said he was in jail for the murder of her father.    He was also

accused of selling drugs and money laundering, as a Cartel Boss.

Knowing her fathers friend since she was a baby , she went to the FBI office to tell them what a terrible mistake they were making, because he was like family.     She was told in no uncertain terms that they had positive evidence and were going to continue to
