About the Book

Katherine St. George is a divorced, forty year old partner in an old-line Baltimore accounting firm.  She learns of a missing police dog and immediately envisions a German Shepherd lying on a stream bank.  Katherine feels certain this is the missing K-9.

She is in a quandary.  Katherine, the animal lover, fears if the dog is not found soon he will die.  Katherine, the CPA, fears if she helps find the dog her corporate and social positions will be jeopardized.  However, her compassion for animals compels her to contact the police and assist them in their K-9's recovery.  Katherine’s sole request is for anonymity.  When the police agree, she is relieved that her secret is safe.  Unfortunately, an aging crime beat reporter, Harry Templeton, uncovers her secret and uses it to force her to help him search for his missing college roommate, Roy Allnutt.

Katherine becomes Harry’s begrudging partner as they investigate his friend’s disappearance.  The unlikely pair travel to Montaview, a town in Southern Pennsylvania, where Roy and his family own a small ski resort.  There Katherine and Harry learn that appearances can be deceiving and deadly.  The mystery surrounding Roy Allnutt is ultimately solved, but with dire consequences.

This is the first in a series of mysteries based on the author, Deborah Heinecker’s, criminal cases.

About the Author

Deborah Heinecker hails from Baltimore, Maryland. She is the only child of doating parents, Calvin and Lorraine Heinecker. However, Deborah contends she was only slightly spoiled. Deborah holds a BA in English with an emphasis on medieval literature from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County. She minored in Accounting. Deborah’s first position after graduation was with the Treasury Department as a National Bank Examiner. After several months, Deborah realized accounting was not her cup of tea. She combined her computer knowledge with her writing abilities and became a consultant developing standards and user manuals for corporate clients. Deborah enjoys horseback riding, tennis, sailing, and the symphony. She has studied classical ballet, homeopathy, Reiki and other healing modalities. Since her unlikely career move from businesswoman to psychic detective, Deborah has assisted with 46 criminal cases nationwide. It was developed as a series featuring her reluctant psychic detective, Katherine St. George, and is based on one of her early cases. Deborah is currently working on the second mystery of the series. Deborah is married to poet, Bob Wickless. They reside in a turn-of-the-century Victorian in northern Frederick County with their canine and feline motley crew.
