About the Book

"This book covers the little things that make a difference in the classroom. It stresses the importance of getting off to a good start, learning your student’s names as quickly as possible, and setting the tone for a positive classroom atmosphere. Teaching our next generation is an important task. The little things will serve as a guide for beginning teachers, and hopefully stimulate the thinking in those dedicated veteran teachers. You will learn about classroom procedure, explore a testing philosophy, and pick up some tips about stimulating class discussion. You will also explore some ways to bring out the creativity of your students, and to help learning become enjoyable.

About the Author

Jim Wilkinson has been an educator for over 42 years and has brought a passion into his classroom that has intrigued students from the east to west coast. A graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College with a Masters degree in Education from West Chester State University, he has always strived to teach the unteachable. He began teaching in 1959 at Wilkinsburg High School in Pittsburgh, Pa., then found his niche in Health Science, a required co-ed senior class in Abington High School, in Philadelphia, Pa. He was a successful boys varsity basketball coach for 30 years in the Pennsylvania public school system, and after 524 wins was named to Who’s Who in Pennsylvania sports history. He is currently the dean of students at the Professional Golfers Career College in Temecula, Ca., where he continues to teach. His daughter recalls that every student wanted to have him as their teacher in their senior year, and some were found in tears after learning they were assigned another teacher.
