About the Book

A Likely Story is an extraordinary series of tales that will capture your heart and imagination. It is told with wonderful humor and profound poignancy. Dr. Adams is a master craftsman at creating indelible word pictures. Anyone who has paid attention to the mysteries and insights that have occurred during their own lives will identify with these marvelous vignettes. It is a delightful and emotional blend of reminiscences, victories and defeats. All who read it will want to share these marvelous tales with everyone they love. A Likely Story captures the essence of life whether it is in a small, rural community or a huge metropolis. It is a book you won't soon forget.

A Likely Story appears to be an autobiography. However, its true identity is soon revealed. This is a gripping, page-turning story of the American experience. For those who have also lived through Glenn’s experiences there is an immediate and powerful connection. For those who haven’t, Glenn’s story foreshadows the pain, hope, joy and eventually triumph that life can bring. – Chad Lewis, Everett, WA

A Likely Story covers the extraordinary events in the author’s life from the age of eight into his seventh decade. This is a fascinating narrative and written with candor, whether relating to the adventures of childhood, the sometimes arduous process of growing into adulthood, or the tragedies that life has a way of inflicting upon us. The thing I love most about this book is the wonderful sense of humor. I found myself laughing out loud while reading numerous accounts. This is a truly remarkable story.  Audrey Ling – Los Angeles, CA

A Likely Story is an astonishing work – so very personal and revealing, like a Neil Diamond song!  Don Angell - Duxbury, MA

I started reading A Likely Story last night after I went to bed and found myself laughing out loud so many times. Dr. Adams has so many tales to tell, and he tells them delightfully. I can hardly wait to finish the book so I can pass it on to the rest of my family.  Evelyn Bedenbaugh – North Augusta, SC

I read A Likely Story as soon as it arrived. I couldn’t put it down. Its humor is wonderful, the madcap adventures, the follies and reverses of youth, and the writing is all of one piece. What emerges at the end is a love story, which is very deep yet understated. I was moved to tears at the description of Glenn’s wife leaving the hospital’s snowy parking lot as he watched from his hospital window. It is an excellent social history of life in the United States during the turbulent ‘50s and ‘60s. This is the story of a significant life and a unique human being.  Jean Musser – College Place, WA

About the Author

Glenn was born in Detroit and was witness to the city's devolution from a wonderfully dynamic, creative city into a crime-ridden slum. His remarkable sense of humor and resilience served him well as he moved from city to farm and back again. Glenn and his wife, Arlene, have been married for forty years and have four grown children and five grandchildren. He served as the Director of Counseling and Testing at Everett Community College in Everett, Washington for twenty-five years. After his Army service in Japan, he began his academic endeavors -- five years after dropping out of high school in Detroit. He began at Wayne State University in Detroit, and earned his Bachelor's degree in Sociology there. It was followed by a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon, and finally a Ph.D. in the Administration of Urban Community Colleges from the University of Washington. The true tales of his incredible life have now been documented, at the insistent urging of his children, in a wonderful blend of humor, tragedy, and perseverance. "A Likely Story" is a book you will want to share with everyone you love.
