About the Author

I am a 68 year old mother of twin girls, two stepsons and 6 grandchildren. I have lived in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia all my life and I love it. I graduated high school and attended some college. I worked as a secretary for 18 years, then went into Real Estate and got my Broker’s license. I worked in Real Estate until I lost my hearing. I am now completely deaf, but with the aid of a cochlear implant procedure done in 1993 and with several new up dates and reading lips, I get along fine. Science has come a long way and I can now talk on the phone again and hear all my music again. I do have my limitations and I try to accept them. I have Hepatitis C from a bad blood transfusion in the 80’s before they began testing for Hepatitis. But for the most part, I do great. I read a lot, listen to my music and have been married to a wonderful man for 30 years. He is wonderfully encouraging. I have a long way to go! I have been published in several small books, “The International Library of Poetry”, JMW Publishing Company, “The International Who’s Who in Poetry” and “Noble House of London’s” new book. Jo Carey (On July 5, 2008 Jo Carey went to be with her beloved God. She was working on her poetry even in her last moments here on earth. Her husband and twin girls understood her desire to have this collection published. In loving memory of Jo, her dream has now been realized.)
