About the Book

About the Author

I am 86 years old. I was born and raised in Trenton, N.J. I lived in an area that was dubbed “Cracker HILL.” It is in the Western Section of Trenton. While in grammar school I had a paper route and worked in a drug store. I was rejected for military service in World War 2 for a lazy eye. I could see out of it but it was hardly usable. I still have it and it is no better than it was in 1942. Later I was accepted by the military for non-combat service. I was sent to Iran where the Americans and the English were supplying Russia with military material. The material was shipped to Khorramshahr in Iran and then carried, via the Trans Iranian Railroad, to Russia. After the war I was employed by the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company where I served for 34 years. I presently live in Ewing, which abuts Trenton, with Mary, my wife of 55 years. Trenton was, and to some extent still is overrun with drug addicts. The city of Trenton and the County of Mercer are doing their best to clear out the pushers but it is still a very difficult problem, as it is in most cities today.
