About the Book

The city of Bayou Cane separates the underprivileged from the rich through a Bayou Cane Bridge. The ones living on the east side are looked down upon by the ones occupying the west side. When Shae witnesses a murder one night, she knows that one of the eastern residents has become a target of this indifference in the wake of this class hatred. All she knows about the murderer is that he wore luxurious brown leather trench coat and, thus, belonged to the elite. But giving justice to the dead demands her to go against her class, and if she does so, she and her family may have to bear the hatred and face being kicked out of the social elite club. What will she do now?
