What might happen in the next thirty years if we decide to just drift along in our lives as they are now?  Many times after major disasters people wake up and live their lives deliberately. What might happen in the world if the coded prophetic language of the Revelation of John, came to be fulfilled?  After disasters of that magnitude, who would be left and how would they recreate the world?  Would it be similar to the world we already know?  Jacob, Margaret’s husband disappears along with great numbers of other people of the world one bright morning.  She is left with her teenage daughter, Gen and toddler son, John. As the world’s societies are crumbling due to the lack of the “good” people who have left it, an antichrist arises and organizes a ruthless army.  He makes promises to Israel in an attempt to lure as many Jewish people as possible into their homeland.  He legalizes drugs. He creates a new economy where for one denario a man has to labor an entire day. Women and children can not earn enough to live. Many people hide in the abandoned buildings of major cities, another number flee to live in forests and mountain caves. Margaret must confront her former lack of faith, and decide what to believe that will help her and her children to survive. They face the challenges of kidnapping, fear, doubt and death all around them. Those who will not wear the antichrist’s mark on their foreheads are beheaded. Margaret and the other Remainders must learn from native Americans how to live through the winters of the Tribulation, and survive the fires and earthquakes of the Apocalypse. After a terrifying thirteen chapters, Margaret’s small community must recreate a society in seven chapter length conversations.  A new love appears in her life. And a beloved woman friend is lost to a rare event of violence after the Second Coming.  Her community must decide what to do should this event ever occur again. They are creating a world we could create now if we can envision it and learn how. It is possible.  The events portrayed here are only one view of what could happen if we remain “caught up” and tranquilized by our current lives. We can awaken and decide what we prefer. We can work together to create a ‘future joyous’.
