About the Book

Sharing becomes part of the healing process. From the Heart shares with you the emotional road traveled by the author as she came to terms with her new role. She writes, “I am a wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoys an active lifestlye. I became interested in photography as an attempt to capture those ‘precious moments in time’ that only another new grandparent could truly understand. That was twenty years ago. Now, as a senior, and caregiver to my husband who is recovering from a stroke he suffered almost a year ago, those ‘precious moments’ seem so all important to remember. I began to write verse, as a means of expression, after the attacks of 9/11. I have never been one to overtly show my emotions; but as I travel this new emotional roller coaster, I have learned that emotions are just a part of each of us, they need not be justified and it helps when I share. Photography and writing have been my voice of expression. I would urge all to look beyond my words and images and find their own story. Appreciation and Interpretation take root from past experiences, present circumstances, and current frame of mind. If we are to stay well and be successful, it is essential that we learn to accept, understand, and come to terms with our own emotions. I believe that how we react to something is much more important than the event itself. I do hope that my work offers support and comfort to others.”

About the Author

My writing and photography are truly therapeutic for me. The words I write are truly from my heart. Photography has opened my eyes to the world around me, has taught me to see things differently and to make observations I would have so easily missed before. With these new insights come new experiences and emotions that cry out for expression. As I re-read verses and look anew at my photographs, I see them for where I was at that time and for how far I have moved on. Today I write different words; to me, they continue to have their merit. I capture images with my camera but often work with the many digital editing tools to create what I call ‘photographic art.’ It offers me a certain sense of control in the otherwise chaotic world in which I have been thrown. It is my nature to take a positive approach to things. I take ‘one day at a time’ so as not to become overwhelmed by the many tasks before me. Difficulties are ‘hills to climb’ and problems are to be solved with ‘actions not complaints.’
