About the Book

Raised in the luxury of a wealthy family in an exclusive suburb of London, beautiful young Peg Walford yearns for the freedom and excitement which life in America seems to offer.  It beckons to her.  When she leaves her family and Sean,

with whom she would have given in to making love, she feared it would give her reason not to leave England for America.

She experiences both thrills and a few fears and shocks, and fails to recognize her own naivete and vulnerability.  Her charm and appearance bring her to the attention of men everywhere, but she's determined to find the right man.  When she finds one she believes is the right one, an impulsive marriage turns out to be torture for her.  She has a child, and eventually leaves him and becomes degraded. However, despite the degradation, she was fortunate to find a wonderful woman who offered to care for her little girl, so that Peg could find work.  Assaulted while coming home from work, shes attacked in the street.  She eventually turns to prostitution.......

Peg felt the pounding of her heart.  It was early as she strolled along the path edged with varicolored pansies.  It was now time to go home; the seven months seemed to her like years.

At 29 her past torment had not as yet etched itself into her attractive face. Her short golden hair haloed her fair skin.  The faint blush on her cheeks, lovely green eyes and smooth full lips gave her a youthful look.  Her figure was still that of a young girl.  With prayer in mind, she looked up at the bright blue sky and prayed for help to ease the return to her little girl, the baby boy shed never seen, and Bill her love.  The past could no longer harm her, she knew she was free of it and could view the years as a sideline observer.

According the doctor she was ready to return to her family, but would they all be comfortable with her?  She tensed at the nagging thought.  She moved slowly, thinking how her life had gotten so completely off the path shed planned--from carefree little rich girl to this.  She realized how naive it was to think she could go it alone, ignoring everyones advice.

Peg tiurned to look at the two-story building that had been home for the past

seven months.  It was a little frightening to be leaving her cocoon, but she hoped Bill would give her all the support shed need.  She thought how difficult it must have been for him.  Soon she heard a car coming into the parking lot, and it brought her back to the present.  She ran through the building where she waited at the security door for whoever was coming---hoping it was Bill.
