About the Book

Come soar with Amalphee, the most beautiful dragon of them all!

Do you love toys? Do you love things? Are they the most important thing to you?

Amalphee is a young dragon. She loves to fly. She loves to roar. She loves to soar on the air currents. But something happens to make Amalphee sad. She forgets what gives her joy.

Will she find out what is really important? You decide.

About the Author

The Amalphee Dragon was hatched from the cynical comment: “I can tell platinum from white gold across a room.” To Linda Albin these words told the story about a dragon who shouted, “I can spot platinum a mile away I can tell it from silver or gold night or day.” When the author began her adventure with Amalphee, it seemed like a far fetched fantasy. But with the help and encouragement of her art mentor, June Shatken the dream began to take shape. Step by step things fell into place. A fellow art student, Brenda Doherty decided to join the journey as art director. But the journey was stalled when no one could draw a proper dragon. It seemed like the quest had come to an end. Then, as if by magic, a young artist, Jordan Rich decided to take art lessons. For her expertise level, she submitted a dragon. When June showed Linda the picture, Linda exclaimed, “It’s Amalphee.” So at only thirteen years old, Jordan became the illustrator and creator of our dragon. The journey continued. There were endless re-writes (thank you to everyone who read and reread the various versions) and many deliberations. Rosella Albin read it out loud for the first time and with her years of experience as a kindergarten teacher pronounced it good. There were the people who always believed: Doreen, Linda’s dearest friend, Jayson, Crystal and many others. But when the adventure mired to doubt and uncertainty and it seemed like Amalphee would fall from the sky, Linda’s own knight in shining armor, TK (Roy Albin) didn’t save her from the dragon but saved the dragon from her. I hope you soar with Amalphee as she finds out what joy really is. I promise she will bring you magic. She has certainly brought it to me. So here lives Amalphee. And with your help, she will fly on many more adventures.
